Ms Stacey is a friend! She’s not a stranger in the pool. Why on earth did moms keep calling her a stranger in the pool? If they would have just called her a friend, this would have gone way easier. She sang the swim song, she made me kick across the pool. She even sang a song that made my arms do big circles. Little weird, but I went with it. I was all about the floaties because I saw two little boys play in them before me. I knew they were toddler tested and approved. It’s an important seal of approval that all toddlers live by.
There were buggies around the pool that she kept asking me to catch for her. Being a bug catcher while swimming is hard. She asked me to look for snakes in the tree…what? Snakes don’t go in trees…do they? That’s so cool of they do! Eveytime I looked for them, she floated me on my back. She’s a sneaky friend. I swam after starfish and whales and mermaids. Maybe this learning to swim thing is okay.
But – friends – *Deep breath* – she asked me to show her my bubbles. I blew my bubbles like a big girl. And you know what she did??? She dunked me under the water? Why??? I was being a good kid, and she punished me? Oh did I turn into a howler monkey after that. She even did it again later after I forgot about it! So I became even more mad at my friend. She wasn’t a friend at the end of my pool time. She’s the lady that dunks me now. So rude!
