Birthdays and Mischief

Let’s see. Where did we leave off last time? Ah yes, I think I left you with an embarrassing photo of my mom and I sleeping away. Well, since then I have been into all kinds of mischief and making sure everyone on my block knows who is really in charge.

Score 1 for my Mama, I guess. My Mama found a new way to make me fall asleep. She took me on adventure that she said would be lots of fun. She put me in this contraption and attached it to her bike and started riding all over my neighborhood. I was super excited. I had snacks, my big kid water cup, my blankey, and my helmet. I was ready. But the rocking of the contraption made me pass out. No one told me that the contraption would rock. My Mama knows that rocking is my kryptonite. I feel like she did that on purpose. Hmph.

I am learning lots of new things. I am figuring out how to say my name. I am getting so close to it. I’ve also figured out how to say RamKabir. It’s how I am supposed to greet everyone in my family. Ma and Dada get a kick out of it when I say Ram to them. When I want something, I am good about going into the kitchen and pointing in the general direction of what I want. I tell my moms when I want ‘more’ of something. I know how to say fruit, sloths, shoes, and ice! My vocabulary (that’s a real word right?) is getting super good.

It was a big couple weeks. I had a lot of birthdays in August and there were other things called anniversaries? I think that’s right. But the most important ones were my Mama’s birthday and my Ma and Dada’s anniversary! My Mama turned 39 and my Ma and Dada have been married for 45 years. That’s a super long time, like that’s an infinity long time.

We had a party to celebrate my Mama’s birthday and some of my coolest aunties and uncles came to celebrate my Mama. Godfather Peaches came too! Although, this is hard to talk about, but my Uncle Nigel came too. He’s the coolest. He’s been my buddy since I was little. Well, I thought he was my coolest buddy. He got in my truck and drove off with it! Can you believe that? He just drove off in my truck like it was his! I felt so betrayed by him that day. I don’t know if I’ll be able to emotionally recover from that incident. *Gently shaking my head*

Anyway, did I tell you that my Ma and Dada spent came to spend the night with me for the first time? That was the coolest thing ever! We went to go see them for the day and then I adult-napped my grandparents. They played with me and chased me around the house. Then they took me on their daily walks. I was so sad when they had to leave to go back home. I don’t know why all my family can’t just stay in one spot with me. I can’t wait for the next time they come to spend the night.

A few days after the birthday shenanigans, I kept hearing these loud noises outside of my house. I had to inspect what was going on. I threw my blankey in my shopping cart, told my Mama to put my shoes and sunglasses on and take me outside. I can’t quite grab the door handle yet…but I’m so close or I’d let myself out. I went outside to inspect the loud noises. You know what I found? People are still building houses in my neighborhood without clearing it with me first!! How dare they?! There were people standing on top of houses, people in big machines moving dirt, and people doing all kinds of other things. They kept trying to say hi to me, but I just was not having it. I made sure to give them my best look of annoyance that I could. They need to understand how much of an inconvenience they are to my way of life right now. However, some of the guys were listening to some good tunes and I couldn’t help but to take a quick dance break. Dance breaks are important to one’s sanity.

I guess it’s time for me to talk about my Moms’ favorite day over the last couple weeks. My Moms were cleaning or something boring. I needed something to do. My toys were not really entertaining me this day, you know how it goes right? I was wondering around looking for something fun to do and there it was. It stood out like the sun on a cloudy day. The jar of A&D ointment. Side note: I have become really good at putting lotion on myself and washing myself with my bath soap. And my moms always talk about how dry my skin is. I digress. There it was, that jar of A&D, just calling my name.

I braved the dreaded “no” from my moms and climbed the couch to the DVD shelf where the A&D ointment was just sitting, calling my name. I sat down with it, examined it for a moment, and opened the lid. That happened way to easy, I thought it was a trap, a parent trap you might say. (A joke for you 90s kids…my mom made say that. Remember, she’s weird.) I stuck my hand in the jar and started pulling out handfuls of it and rubbing it all over skin. I sufficiently applied the ointment to my arm and leg before my moms finally noticed what I was doing. I guess it wasn’t a trap. Had to test a theory, it’s what a real scientist does.

My mom came running out and grabbed the jar away from me after I had already emptied out half of the jar. She didn’t realize that it wasn’t going to be so easy to pick me up with all of that ointment all over me though. I was so slippery, ha! As she carried me to the bathroom to wash me off, I made sure to get the A&D all over her too! My mom washed me like ten times and I was still a slippery, shiny little human. But, I had amazing and glowing skin for the next few days.

Besides that, my Mama has been working in her shop again and made me a cool toy! It teaches me how to unlock and lock things – she might regret that later. We also started our hikes again, I missed seeing all my friends and adventuring in the wilderness. My Mama and I are even going to host a hike this week for my friends. I am super excited we’re doing this and super excited to show my friends a fun place. Sorry guys – I can’t talk about where. What happens in hike club, stays in hike club – for the safety of us littles.

Super excited to see what September brings our way and all of my people too! Until next time!
